Calling all Speakers

The Bakken Shale Water Management 2021 conference is seeking presentations that are broadly focused on the following key topics:

  • Making an economic assessment for shale water management strategies
  • Looking for low-cost and low-risk solutions in water treatment, recycling, and reuse
  • Evaluating the options and making choices in treatment-for-reuse and water-disposal
  • New technologies and technical know-how in shale water management operations
  • Upcoming regulations and industry standards for produced water management
  • Operational case studies and developing a water management program

The ongoing uncertainty around oil prices and the increasingly restrained regulatory environment has changed the way shale operators across North Dakota approach their produced water management decisions. As production gains momentum, the market for hydraulic fracturing wastewater treatment is set to grow over the next decade.

New research shows that more emphasis is being placed on water protection through upcoming regulations and public efforts in order to influence the sourcing and disposal of produced water for hydraulic fracturing. Regulations will increasingly favor the treatment, recycle and reuse of flowback and produced water, particularly in the Bakken region, gradually replacing deep-well injection as a result of the anticipated regulatory pressures and large shale gas reserves. The treatment of flowback and produced water can be achieved through a variety of technologies, including advanced oxidation, membrane filtration, and reverse osmosis, which all have proven results.

As this market evolves, increasing importance is being placed on new modular treatment systems over more centralized treatment technologies. This conference will focus on comparing the economics of treating produced water for recycling and reuse versus the total cost of water-disposal, while looking at the real volumes of water recovered from wells, the cost of water transfer, and the proximity to disposal wells.

Be a part of our multi-discipline agenda…

The Bakken Shale Water Management 2021 forum will be an opportunity for all professionals engaged in relevant disciplines to report on their accomplishments and to exchange views. The event will have a unique emphasis on networking and building new relationships, including generating dialogue in technical know-how and to find new solutions for a challenging market. There will also be an opportunity to integrate with allied industries and to demonstrate an insight into new shale water management initiatives for mutual benefit.

Presentations which focus on the latest results and experiences in shale water management, in particular, well-by-well case studies with new market data from past and current water-treatment and water-disposal projects are of particular interest for this conference, along with other relevant topics of timely interest.

Please consider participating in what is certain to be a highly productive experience with an opportunity to collaborate with leading industry experts from across the shale industry.
